Edo North Notorious Kidnapper In Police Net

…Police say he is on wanted list

Efforts by the Edo State Police command and local Vigilante to address worsening insecurity has paid off as a notorious kidnapping suspect who has been on the police wanted list for the past months has been arrested by men of the police command.

Investigation revealed that the  suspected hardened bandit known as  Dauda Yusuf and his  members have continuously  terrorized Auchi, Igarra, Okpella, Fugar, Agenebode and environs, in Northern  Senatorial District of Edo State, Nigeria.

Further investigation also revealed that Dauda Yusuf allegedly kidnapped the Manager of a contracting firm rehabilitating Auchi-Okpella-Okenne Road which leads to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The suspect and his cohorts who then were at large stormed the construction site in Auchi, and seized the Manager, an expatriate and foreigner and kept him captive in the forest for six days.

A ransom of eight millionaire naira was paid before the victim was released, after a strenuous negotiation.

Dauda Yusuf was said to have again, mobilized his gang and kidnapped a businessman at his Quarry Company in Auchi Edo state.

Luck however ran out of the suspected kidnapper as he was arrested at the scene of another kidnapping in Auchi with his cousin, Richard Daniel.

The police and the vigilante members in the locality got credible information that a gang of kidnappers had laid siege on the area and were hell-bent on actualizing their nefarious activity by kidnapping a businessman.

They laid ambush and arrested them upon their arrival at the kidnapping scene.

Dauda Yusuf upon interrogation confessed that he ventured into kidnapping 4 years ago after many struggles to earn decent living failed.

It was further discovered that Daudu Yusuf had been paraded along other criminal suspects 2 years ago over perpetuation of secret cult activities which led to the death of some youths in the State.

The suspect was said to have been charged to court by the Police where he was remanded in prison custody in one of the Correctional Centers in Benin City.

It was gathered that he escaped few months ago with others now at large and returned to his stock in trade.

The hoodlums were caught with 3 locally made guns and live cartridges.

In their comments the police assured that the suspects would be charged to court soon after a thorough investigation, so that their accomplices and colleagues would be fished out.
