BY MIKE OSAROGIAGBON AND OKHIDE EM’YA DAVID

Unknown gunmen have abducted the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Benin City.

Sources revealed that the NIS spokeswoman Mrs. Bridget Esene was waylaid and whisked away by the gun wielding gang while on her way to church at Ikhueniro area of the state capital, today, Sunday, January 24, 2021.

An eyewitness said the incident which looked like a scene from a Hollywood movie scared innocent Commuters who scampered for safety.

The eyewitness said: “Passersby who were traumatized by spiral gun shots of the Bandits took to their heels, with some fleeing into nearby bush adding that the incident did not last for more than 5 minutes.”

The Hoodlums were said to have trailed their victim from inside Benin Metropolis where she resides and caught up with her at Ikhueniro or Ikhuen where she worships every Sunday.

When the news of her abduction got to the Church, Members were said to have been thrown into a fervent prayer session for God to touch the hearts of her abductors.

Some of the members said it was a tragic experience wondering why she was abducted as she wasn’t a wealthy person but a civil servant.

A source in the family also said she was confronted at Ikhuen, Ikpoba Okha local Government Area and taken by force from her vehicle on her way to Church early Sunday.

Contacted, the commissioner of police in Edo CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu said the command has been intimated.

It could not be ascertained at press yesterday if the gunmen have established contact with her family.
