The Managing Director of Tracology, Mr. Emmanuel Okena, has said that his firm partnered the Edo State Government on the installation of QR-code enabled payment tracking tools in houses in Edo State to improve accountability and plug leakages in the state’s revenue administration value chain.
Okena, in a chat with journalists, said that the Tracology tracking device is patented in Nigeria, and affords the state government the opportunity to actualize its drive for e-governance, noting that the deployment of the solution by the waste management board has proved that the technology was reliable and ready for mass deployment.
According to him, “We are a start-up that has perfected a technology for tracking payments and service delivery, especially by government agencies. With this, we install bar-code enabled metal chips on houses fitted with property identification numbers and help the government in monitoring payments and services rendered. This makes for accountability and probity.”
He said the device has been installed in the Ogbe Quarters axis of Benin City, where over 1000 houses, who are customers of agents of the Edo State Waste Management Board, have been enrolled on the platform.
He added that the firm is looking to expand its reach across the state and is partnering with the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of the state and the revenue agency to ensure a roll out of the scheme to help the government in tracking its revenue.
