A 69 year-old army pensioner, Corporal Adasa Felix, has pleaded with Edo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry for victims of SARS and related abuses in Benin City, to wade into a case of alleged maltreatment and ejection by his landlord from his apartment and reinstate him.
Adasa, who attributed his nonpayment of his rent on time to the delay in the remittance of monthly pension to him by the Military Authority, expressed pains that his landlord used a serving army officer, a lieutenant Colonel to evict him from his apartment because of non-payment of his monthly rent.
The retired army corporal, who lamented that the serving army officer, failed to respect the spirit of esprit de corps noted that the ways and manner he was ejected was embarrassing, saying that since eviction from his apartment, he has been sleeping outside.
“I was in a particular accommodation in Ogbeson in Benin City, where I had an agreement with the landlord that when I receive my next pension, I will pay three months upfront but that pension never came.
“Suddenly, one night an unknown person who presented himself as an officer of the Nigerian Army came to my house asking me to open the door but I refused because it was late.
“I was bundled out of the house by the said soldier, and I now sleep outside. I reported it to the Nigerian Army but I was asked to come to the panel”, he narrated.
