500 Indigenes Of Akoko Edo Council Area Benefit From Free Medical Treatment

No fewer than 500 persons from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State have received free medical treatment and medication from the medical outreach of the House Leader of House of Representatives, Rt .Hon. Peter Akpatason.

The medical outreach, aimed at tackling different ailments, was part of the lawmaker’s 2017 constituency projects.

Speaking at the Alafia Hospital in Igarra and Ibillo Health Center Township Venues of the free medical programme, Akpatason said the decision stemmed from the desire to make the constituents more productive, through quality health.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of Operations, Mrs,  Prescilia Ogbaifo and Mrs. Judith Efe  disclosed that about 500 surgeries were  successfully  carried out.

They explained  that children and the elderly were  major targets of the outreach and expressed the belief  that it was  a worthwhile venture that will make people’s lives better.

Some of the Constituents including  Mr. Stephen Adepoju and Mrs. Ogedengbe Justina who commented on the success of the programme said that the Intervention means a lot and  differences  in the lives of many of them.

The beneficiaries who could not hide their joy expressed satisfaction and prayed  for Hon. Peter Akpatason’s long life and prosperity.

They called on others lawmakers to emulate the quality representative  being exhibited by Hon. Peter Akpatason.

In another development, the member representing Akoko Edo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Peter Akpatason has  called on youths to embrace agriculture and be employers of labor rather than being job seekers.

The Deputy House Leader made the call at the launching of Borbda Integrated Farms in  Uneme-Nekhua (Ohorogu) and Okpe Kingdom.

The integrated farms is fashioned in the model of Songhai of BORBDA Integrated Farms for  his constituency and was carried out by Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority and facilitated by the Akoko Edo Federal  legislator.

Peter Akpatason said Integrated farming scheme is the new technology in farming and it is the process where they will have a value chain going on within a farm system and be able to use the scheme to do both animal husbandry and crop cultivation  within the same environment.

He added that Integrated farming system is basically the Songhai model which forbids throwing away waste, even human waste.

said Integrated farms is going to benefit the communities and urged the youths to seize the opportunity and better their lots

He also noted that with the volatile situation of crude oil price  in international markets, there was a need for the people and the country to place more emphasis on agriculture.

The Managing Director Benin -Owena River Basin Development Authority Engr Saliu Ahmed said there is nothing to be wasted under integrated farming system and Every effluent is something that can be used to produce yet another thing.

He added that this system tacitly imbued in  organic fertilization as against chemical fertilization which is what the whole world is adopting in farming.
