Race To The White House: A Look At President Trump’s Kingdom

By Igbotako Nowinta

As a sitting President, he has engaged in the greatest acts of deceits, lies and blackmail in recent history; inciting and honoring violence, voter’s suppression, with alleged shady tax returns – a smooth operator who has allegedly been cheating  on the American people for decades.  It is indeed pathetic that a large section of the American public sees Trump as the greatest threat to democracy in the history of the United States. As the first ever billionaire President, he has tried to silence every iota of opposition or rivalry to his presidency; many Americans see him as the most corrupt, dishonest and incompetent President in the nation’s history. Trump’s Presidential kingdom has even threatened not to accept the results of the November 3rd, 2020 Presidential Election, a move quite unheard of and unprecedented in the history of the United States of America; a shocking development, even, as democracy watchers all over the world are anxiously waiting for what he would do, if he eventually loses this election. His imperial stance from within the Republican Party; and his unbecoming attitudes have not only exposed him as a reckless, unaccommodating dictator, but a profound danger to global democratic order. Trump’s Presidential kingdom has brought the White House and the entire nation to the pinnacle of unnecessary tension, loss of moral standing as the beacon of democracy and human rights around the globe; grave disrepute and executive rascality. Under his watch and leadership, the United States has become a den of racial hatred and hostilities; a reminiscence of the crude abuse of the fundamental human rights of black people in the 1950s; and the retrogressive replica that mercilessly gripped the country with the brutal killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

In less than 24 hours from now, citizens of the United State of America, precisely on November 3, 2020 will vote to elect a new President.

As the race to the White House enters critical moments, with former Vice President Joe Biden flying the Democratic flag, and the Grand Old Party ( the Republican), using sitting President Donald Trump as the sure bet, to retain the crown of presidential power, l feel obligated to look at what l have coined as the ‘kingdom’ of President Trump.

Out of frustration due to nonchalant attitude and dictatorial tendency of Donald Trump, on April 14, 2020 during the worse wave of the Convid-19 pandemic, the Democratic Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, was forced to remark as follows: “We don’t have a king in this country. We didn’t want king, so we have a Constitution and we elect a president.”

We must quickly recall the fact that New York State received the most terrible blows in terms of the number of deaths arising from the Corona virus pandemic then.

President Trump was screaming aloud in Washington, that he alone had the power to re-open the virus -stalled United States economy nationwide. But, Andrew Cuomo objected saying that the President could not force States to open with a presidential fiat.

In expressing his utter disgust with Trump’s reckless unpresidential behavior, Cuomo unknowingly exposed the President’s penchant for manufacturing crisis, trouble shooting and unbridled urge for dictatorial tendencies, even, as the number one citizen of the United States of America.

Early in his presidency, Trump unleashed what to expect from his ‘kingdom,’ when he furiously shut out countless Muslims from entering the United States, with his now famous ‘executive orders,’ and went on with his extreme policy of building a wall across the Mexican borders.

The fact remain that he sees himself as a ‘king’ (according to the New York Governor), instead of a democratically elected fellow, since his shocking emergence at the 2016 Presidential Election.

Since January 2017 when he took the oath of office, Trump has not pretended one bit or one day about his grand intentions to act imperially over and above the Constitution of the United States of America.

This fact manifested clearly when he successfully maneuvered his way, with the support of the Republican majority in the Senate during the famous impeachment proceedings.

As the richest American President, till date, he shocked and knocked down, many lovers of democracy all over the world, including yours sincerely, when genuine democratic process of impeachment exercise against him was blatantly scuttled in the Senate.

He made sure absolutely that the weighty allegations that led to his impeachment in the Democratic Party controlled House of Representatives, were never tendered or presented for debate; it was the highest points of Trump’s display of Monarchical powers in the world’s leading and hitherto cherished democratic nation.

That show of dictatorship in a democratic dispensation during the impeachment saga was a big minus for him as the President of the United States, the Republican Party and a very sad and sour example to many undemocratic ‘rulers’ in third world countries, Nigeria, inclusive.

There is no doubt that the likes of Benjamin Franklin, Aaron Burr, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Paine etc., that spearheaded the birth of the United States on July 4th 1776, would be turning in their graves, seeing the details of President Trump’s nauseating Kingdom being shamelessly displayed daily to the American and global audience.

It is a known fact that President Trump’s present kingdom is completely at variance with the country’s 239th years old dream enacted by the nation’s founding fathers.

As a sitting President, he has engaged in the greatest acts of deceits, lies and blackmail in recent history; inciting and honoring violence, voter’s suppression, with alleged shady tax returns – a smooth operator who has allegedly been cheating  on the American people for decades.

What we see today is a monstrous presidency under Trump. I don’t hate Trump but his anachronistic policies and mannerism; l don’t like Joe Biden better, but l crave honestly for an America that will not encourage tyrants and despots, desperate double dealers such that abounds in Nigeria and elsewhere around the globe.

l earnestly yearn for an America that will continue to be a super beacon of transparent, orderly democratic hopes and aspirations, to millions of people around the world; never a vindictive or a vicious country, trying to crumble sacred democratic ethos in the name of fighting terrorism and insecurity. If Joe Biden’s democratic party in this election will give that to America, let him be the next President!

The whole democratic world is anxiously looking up to the United States, as a genuine global bastion of democratic governance, but what Trump’s Kingdom has brought leaves a sour taste in the mouth; he displayed his autocratic best interest during his historic trial for abuse of power.

The President honestly brought the United States to a new low; to the lowest rung of shocking constitutional abuse and premeditated insincere political double dealings.

With his kingdom being ripped apart by unprecedented controversies about his actual personal statutory financial commitments to the United States, his gross regrettable continuous mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic, that has pushed, and is still dragging thousands of Americans to their untimely deaths, and other scandalous imperfections trailing his presidency, it will take President Trump more than good luck, to out vote or edge out his biggest rival in Joe Biden come November 3rd 2020.

Indeed, it will shock many adherents of democratic sanity and decency across the world, if Donald Trump triumphs in this all important election.
