Benin Worsening Crime Situation: Amagba Youths Embark On Community Policing

Amagba Community youths have constituted themselves into a Vigilante Group to protect lives and property in the face of worsening crime situation in parts Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria.

Reports reaching Alltimepost.com said some suspected hoodlums who had launched a robbery attack on the community were at the weekend were overpowered by the Amagba Youths at Ogunmwenhi area of Ugbor.

After successfully repelling the suspected criminals, Amagba youths then decided to provide reinforcement for their existing security outfit in other to check possible invasion of the community by other criminal elements and warring cultists.

Motorists and commuters coming in and out of the community were subjected to serious search to confirm their identity determine their mission.

Many commuters and motorists who spoke with Journalists applauded the proactive approach of the youths to protect lives and property of law abiding citizens and residents of Amagba community.

Some of the youths on the “operation protect Amagba community” said: “We will not wait for the miscreants and hoodlums who had made Upper Sokponba and other affected areas of Benin inhabitable to bring their lawlessness into our community.”

“We have resolved to join our vigilante group to patrol, check, and monitor the security situation in our community and we will leave no stone unturned to make sure that Amagba is safe for all.”

It would be recalled that tension has been heightening in parts of the state capital and adjoining towns, following the escalation of bloody clashes between rival Aye and Eiye cult groups in the state.
