Armed Men Attack Igueben Police Station, Kill Inspector, Constable, Cart Away Arms/Ammunition

A police station in Igueben, Igueben Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria was on Monday night attacked by Armed men who killed a police Inspector,  a constable, and carted away arms and ammunition.

Some eye witnesses also disclosed that some policemen  were also severely wounded.  

The Eyewitness said the armed men stormed the police station in a commando style around 8:pm, threw dynamites  into the station before gaining access. 

They immediately headed for the armory where a cache of arms were hauled away.

As at the time of this report the corpses of the slain policemen have been deposited in the mortuary. 

Irked by the dastardly acts,  the youths of Iguebe took  to the streets in a Sober Protest, calling on government to probe the attack as it was not carried out by the indigenes. They described the armed men as external invaders. 

Also as the time of this report, Edo State Police Command was yet to confirm or issue an official statement on the unfortunate attack.

Source however disclosed that a crack team of seasoned detectives may have been unleashed on the trail of the suspected criminals.

It would be recalled that in the wake of the #EndSaRS Protests some hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful exercise had unleashed mayhem on seven Police Stations, vandalized the facilities, hauled away arms and ammunition as well as burnt them including several vehicles parked in the stations. .
