2020 Alaghodaro: Over 2,500 Youths Expected To Participate In Edo Youth Summit

Edo State Government has said that over 2,500 youths are expected to participate virtually in the Edo Youth Summit, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 as part of events lined up for this year’s Alaghodaro Investment Summit.

The Alaghodaro Summit, the fourth in the series, will be held alongside the November 12 inauguration of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu for a second term in office. The event, scheduled to take place between 9am and 1pm, will be held with provision for virtual participation in line with government’s guidelines to check the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, in a statement, noted that the programme with the theme “Our Youth and the MEGA Agenda’, will provide an opportunity to evaluate how the policies, programmes, and initiatives of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration have benefitted youths in the first four years and identify areas that require improvement.

“The governor has assured that youths would play key roles in government going forward. The Summit will provide a platform to assess the impact of the Obaseki-led administration’s policies and programmes on job creation, youth empowerment, basic and technical education and youths’ participation in governance, among others, in order to identify areas to be improved upon.

“Governor Obaseki is committed to prioritising the needs of youths and harnessing their energy and innovativeness in his drive to grow the state’s economy and engender sustainable development. This is one of such platforms to deliberate on the roles of the youths in the actualisation of the governor’s ‘Making Edo Great Again’ Agenda.”

The governor’s aide also urged youths in the state to log on to Zoom link below to register and participate in the virtual summit:
