A police statement endorsed by SP Chidi Nwabuzor said the commissioner of police in Edo CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo has directed the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to commence full-scale investigation into the immediate and remote causes that led to the gruesome murder incident.
The release stated that the young man was killed by some suspected hoodlums who attacked the #EndSARS protesters at the King’s Square, Benin City on Friday, October 16, 2020.
It further said that the commissioner commiserated with the family of the deceased for the loss just as he vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“He however, appeals to the #EndSARS protesters to end the protest and patiently wait for the Inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu,… to implement the police reforms”. The statement concluded.
