#EndSARS Protest: Angry Mob Raid Edo COVID-19 Warehouse Help Themselves With Food Items, Others.

An angry mob on Saturday  Morning in Benin City raided the  Edo State Government Covid-19 Warehouse on Medical Store road, at the  State capital, carting away large consignment of reserved food for palliatives, strategic grains and medicals items mainly immunization pharmaceutical Products.

The raid which looked like the early part of the #EndSARS Protests aimed at tackling  extra judicial killings and other forms of Police Brutality was however peaceful.

Eye witness accounts say residents of the area woke up Saturday morning to see  men of the Nigerian  Army surrounding the Warehouse, at the  premises of the  Edo Pharmaceutical Store – an unusual practice.

Also very soon a  crowd comprising mainly  youths, both male and female  started to assemble at the front of the warehouse perhaps to forestall break down of law and order.

In what looked like a  scene from a Holly wood  movie the crowd soon surged forward and  descended on the warehouse ignoring warning gun shots by the few  security personnel who were shooting sporadically into the air obviously to scare them away.

But the army who seemed to have acted on instruction stopped the shooting when they saw magnitude of the crowd obviously to avoid killing.

Like a swarm of bees, the mob who were carting away various food items, including noodles, sugar and even gas cylinders and Sleeping Mattresses kept increasing while the army watched helplessly.

As fresh contingent of army of youths besieged the warehouse it became easier to access the facility than to retreat or exit after the loot as they fell  over each other; pushed and shoved.

The mob gathered from across the city of Benin as news of the invasion spread on social media.

Unconfirmed source said there were a few casualty but could not say if it was from shooting of the army.
