#EndSARS: Buhari Should Resign If… – Redeemed Pastor

By Igbotako Nowinta, Alltimepost, Nigeria Bureau Chief

Nigerian President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, has been asked to resign immediately, if he cannot adequately cope or respond to the yearnings, wishes and aspirations of the youths and people of Nigeria.

The Pastor-In-Charge of Province, Edo 6, under Region 13, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Steve Bulugbe, made this remark as a guest speaker during the quarterly program ‘Divine Settlement,’ organized by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Shekinah Glory Zonal Headquarters (Province 5) at the Church Auditorium in Oluku, via Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria on Sunday October 25.

The Clergyman spoke against the backdrop of the recent #ENDSARS nationwide protests that have caused destruction of human lives, property and negativity impacted economic activities throughout the country.

He regretted that Mr. President disappointed many Nigerians during his recent national broadcast to the nation, where he failed to sympathize with those that were massacred at the Lekki Toll gate by some officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

“God is in this current revolution going on in Nigeria. There are so many things being hidden and there are equally many things being revealed about the attitudes of many Nigerian politicians.

“Many things will still come out. How do we explain a sad situation where President Buhari failed to promptly respond to the protests across the nation, even after 48 hours; and when he did come out in his national broadcast, he failed to sympathize with many protesting Nigerians that met their untimely deaths in the hands of trigger-happy soldiers, at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos.

“How can a President feel unconcerned about such brazen killings of peaceful, harmless and defenseless Nigerians? If President Buhari cannot cope with current challenges and genuine demands of Nigerian youths, nay people, he should resign without delay.”

Pastor Bulugbe advised Nigerian youths to remain focused on their current aspirations; and urged them to shun violence in seeking their fundamental rights in the country.

The Chief Host at the event and Zonal Pastor, Frank Amegor, who decried acts of brutality by some police officers, lamented the unpatriotic attitudes of many Nigerians, especially the political class, which according to him have led to the continued uprisings by the youths.

The program with the theme ‘Household Blessings’, which was a quarterly program of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was attended by parishioners within the area and zones of the RCCG Shekinah Glory Zonal Headquarters, Benin City.
