Obaseki’s Reforms: JARA Mall Set To Establish New Outlets In Ugbowo, Ugbiyoko, Ekpoma

JARA Mall, the first discount retail outlet in Edo State, is concluding plans to expand its operations in the state on the back of a conducive business environment provided by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.

The Executive Chairman, Edo Development and Property Agency (EDPA), Isoken Omo, who disclosed this in a chat with journalists, said the new outlets will be located in Ugbowo and Ugbiyoko in Benin City and Ekpoma in Edo Central Senatorial District.

The establishment of the first discount mall in the state was midwifed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the EDLP Nigeria Limited and EDPA. The mall was commissioned in Benin City in March this year.

According to her, “The JARA discount mall on Sokponba Road is a success story today. It is a product of an MoU signed by the state government with EDLP Nigeria Limited. The products at the mall sell for lesser than the price in the open market.

“The patronage has been so good that it has encouraged the company to want to expand its operations to other locations across the state. The mall is always busy and full, which is a good sign that the business is thriving and healthy.”

She noted that a key advantage of the mall is that it is closely connected with local suppliers, as most agriculture produce sold at the facility are procured from local farmers, whose produce are being aggregated at Ehor, the state government’s Food and Agriculture Cluster (EdoFAC).

Stressing that such synergy was necessary to drive the local economy, she said the state government is steadily resetting its economic base for optimal productivity.
