Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is yet to receive any official communication of the resignation of his Chief of Staff, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, but will accept it any time it gets to him, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said today.
Osagie noted in a press statement this morning that the story has only been making the rounds on social media that Mr. Akerele resigned his appointment.
“In the past few hours, it emerged on social media that the Chief of Staff, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, has resigned his appointment with the Edo State Government.
“While the governor has not received any formal communication to this effect, he believes that this is a personal decision of Mr. Akerele.
“However, whenever the resignation letter gets to the governor, he would accept it, and he wishes Akerele all the best in his future endeavours.”
The story of Akerele’s resignation from the Obaseki administration has been making waves in the social media, suggesting a crack in the governor’s camp at a critical time of his reelection bid and at a time when the rift between him and his predecessor, Comrade Adam Oshiomhole has not been resolved.
As at press time, all efforts to reach Mr. Taiwo Akerele for comment failed. Besides multiple calls Alltimepost.com also sent two text messages without responses.
