Benin: A vote of confidence has been passed on the Chairman of Edo State Football Referees Council, Mr. Johnbull Nosa Okundolor by members and elders of the Council during an emergency meeting held recently at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Ugbowo, Benin City.
Speaking, the South/South zonal coordinator of the Nigerian Football Referees Association (NRA) – SP Osaretin Omoruzi called on members and Exco of the Edo State Football Referees Council to support Mr. Okundolor in taking the State Council to higher height.
“Mr. Okundolor did very well in the past one year; he has succeeded in improving the visibility of the Council. I want you all to give him your best and be good ambassadors of the State. The State Council will not relent in penalizing those that are always involved in destabilizing the peace of the Council”, SP Omoruzi said.
Also speaking, the Nigerian Football Referees Association Vice President 1 and immediate past Chairman of Edo State Football Referees Council – Faith Irabor FIFA rtd urged the State Council’s members and executives to abide by the statute of the Referee Association and said no one will go free if found guilty of sabotaging the rules of the association.
“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Edo Referees Council remain the pride of the nation. I want to use this medium to call on members that are brewing problems in the Council to desist, because as the saying goes, a word is enough for the wise, we cannot allow any one to destroy the development built over the decades in Edo Council”, said FIFA Faith Irabor.
A Nigeria Premier League Match Commissioner, Chief Captain S. A. Amadin called on members to be sincere in their dealings with one another either at home or when they travel out for matches. He called on Edo Referees to desist from greed and lust for material things.
“I want you all to join your efforts with Mr. Okundolor in building the Edo State Council. He and members of his team has done very well. I want to urge any member that is aggrieved to always follow the provisions of the statute in registering their grievances,” Chief Capt. Amadin said.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Johnbull Nosa Okundolor said the emergency meeting was called in order to appraise the activities of the previous year and to resolve some issues that are looming in the Council. He thanked the elders for finding out time to attend the meet.
“I’m grateful to you all for your presence, I believe the issues on the will be properly handled. I also called for this meeting to let you all know the problems bedeviling this Council and to seek your counsel on how to tackle them. Today to me, is one of my most happiest day in life. Thank you once again for your time and support”, Okundolor said.
The Elders also commended the effort of the State Public Relations Officer, Dr. Isaac Eranga for the role he has been playing in ensuring that members don’t lack relevant information that partains to the State Council. They said Mr. Okundolor made a right choice in recommending Dr. Eranga as PRO of the Council.
