Late Mrs. Alice Emwinromwankhoe Efionayi, nee Odobo, the grandmother- in-law of Comrade Igbotako Nowinta, (a renowned human rights/pro-democracy activist, serial writer,) and the Nigerian Bureau Chief of Alltimepost.com, has been buried in Benin City.
The body of the late Alice Efionayi, Matriarch of the Efionayi Nowansaye Ilekhuoba family of Oluku community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, was laid to rest after traditional/family rites in her home in Oluku, Benin City in the early hours of Friday November 22, 2019.
The farewell grand ceremony to celebrate her was life held at the same venue in Oluku on Saturday November 23rd 2019, and was attended by family members, friends and well-wishers from far and near.
Amongst dignitaries who graced the historic event included, Rev. David Ugolor, a frontline civil society activist and the Executive Director of Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice, (ANEEJ); Mr. Eubaldus Enahoro, celebrated columnist and Editor of Nigerian Observer Newspapers, based in Benin City; the Executive Director of Lucky Diamonds Limited, Mr. Lucky Diagi; Pastor Frank Amegor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Shekinah Glory Zonal Headquarters, Benin City.
Others included Dr. Henry Egbon, The Head of Department of SERVICOM University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH); Dr. Ochuko Iduemre of the Faculty of Sociology/Anthropology, University of Benin, (UNIBEN) etc.
Members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Shekinah Glory Zonal Headquarters, where the first grand-daughter, Deaconess Mrs. Faith Nowinta, wife of Alltimepost.com Nigerian Bureau Chief, Igbotako Nowinta, is the Women Leader, flooded the occasion to bid the deceased a glorious farewell.
Countless members of Staff of the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) added color and glamour to the ceremony with their presence.
Late Mrs. Alice Efionayi, a successful community leader cum seasoned traditional healing consultant, died on Thursday September 26, 2019 at the age of eighty years (80) after a brief illness.
