Projects Execution: NDDC Seeks Police Partnership In Edo

Amidst corruption scandal rocking its foundation, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is soliciting police partnership to execute some projects in Edo State.

The Commission said security challenge was negatively affecting execution of its projects in some areas in the state.

Director of NDDC, Edo State Mr. Gbubemi Ogor stated this when he led some of his staff to the office of the state commissioner of police in Benin City at the weekend.

The Commission’s director told the police boss that he was at his office to seek his assistance and partnership towards addressing the security challenges faced by the commission at projects sites in some areas in Edo State.

“After we met with the his excellency, the Edo State Governor with the federal House Committee on NDDC, we felt that there was need meet with the Commissioner of Police on some of the challenges we are having concerning the execution of our projects.

“Also recall the recent statements of the state governor concerning the nature of some of our projects in Edo State. We felt we needed to tackle these problems head-on.

“There are certain areas that pose security risks to some of our staff, we felt going to these areas might need the assistance of the police to go with some of our engineers, contractors and workers so that we can ensure their safety while working on site,” The NDDC director explained.

His host, the Commissioner of Police in Edo State who has just be promoted to the status of an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police, DanMallam Mohammad assured that the state police command would provide the desired protection to ensure execution of NDDC projects in the state.

“With regards to the challenges you are facing in the execution of your projects, we are ready to partner to make sure that all your workers and engineers are given adequate police protection when at the site and when going back to their various houses.” the police chief assured.
