Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, has described the decisions taken by a group of persons allegedly parading themselves as the factional State Working Committee of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abuja, as ultra vires, null and void.
In a statement on Wednesday, Osagie said: “Our attention has been drawn to a meeting by a group of persons referring to themselves as the factional State Working Committee of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“It is laughable that a meeting to take decisions on matters in Edo State is held in Abuja, which goes to prove that the gathering is another manifestation of the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), which remains proscribed by the APC in Edo State.
“Hence, whatever decisions they take is ultra vires, null and void.”
He added, “We will like to, once again, put it on record that the only recognised Executive of the APC in Edo State is the one led by Anselm Ojezua Esq. Those parading themselves to be a factional State Working Committee are mere mischief-makers.”
It would be recalled that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, in a dramatic turn of event characterizing the deepening crisis bedeviling the party in the state, on Tuesday suspended the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over what it described as his role in the crisis.
The party said the decision followed the vote of no confidence passed on Comrade Oshiomhole by the Chairmen of the APC in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State.
The decision was contained in a statement signed by Edo APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua and Assistant State Secretary, Ikuenobe Anthony. And shortly before that, on the same day, the party announced the removal of the Secretary, Mr. Lawrence Okah on the same alleged anti-party activities reasons.
On Wednesday, the party moved further on Oshiomhole by ratifying his suspension from the party in Edo State. Also, three local government chairmen of the APC who were not in attendance at the meeting held on Tuesday where the decision to suspend Oshiomhole was taken, were suspended on Wednesday.
They are the chairmen of the party in Owan West, Etsako West and Etsako Central LGAs. Alltimepost.com has learnt that Edo APC intra-party squabble is just beginning, with the current stance of all warring factions within the party.
