New Police Commissioner Jemita Assumes Duty In Edo… Assures Of Improved Security

Newly deployed commissioner of Police, (CP) Lawan Tanko Jemita, on Thursday assumed duty in Edo State, assuring that he would raise security bar in the state.

Tanko commended his predecessor for the security achievements recorded in Edo thus far, pledging that the state would experience more under his watch.

He solicited the support and cooperation of the media, operatives of the police command and members of the public towards achieving improved security in the state.

“I will be humane, fair and firm in the discharge of my duties in Edo State.” CP Jimeta stated. The new police boss gave the assurance shortly after he took over from his predecessor at the police command headquarters in Benin City.

CP Jemita who arrived the state police command headquarters in Benin City about 4:17pm, inspected a welcome parade mounted at quarter guard, and was thereafter led into his office where he was received by his predecessor DanMallam Mohammad, now an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in charge of Special Protection Unit (SPU), Force headquarters, Abuja.

Earlier in a brief handover, his predecessor informed CP Jemita that the state police command has 10 area commands and 45 police divisions. AIG DanMallam appealed to officers and men of the command as well as members of the public to also extend the same support he enjoyed to the police boss.

He however advised his successor to partner with relevant stakeholders as he stands to achieve a lot in Edo State.
