Edo Police Arrest Man Over Murder Of Wife’s Lover

Edo State Police Command said it has arrested a male suspect in connection with the alleged gruesome murder of his estranged wife’s lover in Benin City. 

Also in police custody is the said woman in whose rented apartment the deceased was shot dead by unknown gunmen.

The unfortunate incident occurred after the woman allegedly abandoned her husband for her now deceased lover.

The woman was said to have rebuked entreaties to make her change her mind and return to her husband.

As a result, the man was alleged to have threatened to deal with the deceased, identified as Etinosa Nowaghama, 35.

Police gave the name of the man as Iroghama Moshudi and his estranged wife, Happy Ikponmwonsa, mother of his four children.

The deceased was gunned down at the residence of his concubine at Odeh Street, Ogida, Benin City, about 8:00pm, November 8, 2019.

The spokesman for police in Edo  DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said operatives of Ogida Divisional Police Headquarters on arrival at the scene met the victim in the pool of his own blood.

He  said they immediately rushed him to hospital where he was confirmed dead.

The deceased’s father and his now embattled concubine in their separate statements to police were said to have affirmed that Iroghama Moshudi previously threatened the deceased should he continue to romance with his wife.

The threat was said to have been reported to a traditional ruler in the area.
DSP Nwabuzor stated that investigation had commenced towards unraveling and prosecuting the killers.
