Army Nabs Fake Soldier Who Specializes In Escorting Imported, Unregistered Vehicles In Benin

Troops of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army have arrested a fake soldier specialized in escorting imported and unregistered vehicles from one destination to another for financial purposes.

The alleged female fake soldier, Mrs. Angela Maidoki, 42 was travelling in a commercial vehicle, kitted in military camouflage when the troops spotted her among other passengers on Benin-Agbor Road on November 5, 2019.

She was however arrested and handed over to the police after interrogation by the troops.

The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Chidi Nwabuzor paraded the suspect before journalists in Benin on Friday.

“On interrogation by the operatives she confessed that her late husband was a lance corporal a serving member in the Nigeria army until his demise in 2017 in Maiduguri why fighting Boko Haram.

“And that she used the uniform to escort vehicles from one place to another to take care of her family”. DSP Nwabuzor stated.

The fake female soldier who admitted the offence said she bought the military uniform as it was all for raising money for the upkeep of herself and five children.

The Cross River State woman who said that she was a full-time housewife when her husband was alive, revealed that she made between seven and eight thousand Naira each time she escorted vehicle.

She however pleaded for forgiveness.

The police spokesman said she would be arraigned accordingly.
