Edo youths under the agies of Concerned Edo Youths today trooped out in their numbers to affirm their support for the current leadership of Edo State House of Assembly led by the Rt. Hon Frank Okiye. The youths numbering over 2000 today marched round the city center and beyond in solidarity with Governor Godwin Obaseki and his team whom they described as the best gift Edo people have had in recent times.
The youths who converged at Museum Center marched through mission road to forestry Road, Akpakpava Road and made a brief stopover at Edo State House of Assembly. The youths then moved through Airport Road to Ezoti Street and finally at NUJ Press Center.
The Youths were received at the NUJ Press Center by the State Chairman, Comrade Roland Osakue who thanked the youths for the orderly conduct of the rally. He assured the youths that their position would be given the necessary reportage while maintaining that Edo NUJ will always stand with the people in as far as Equity, Justice and protection of human rights are observed.
Speakers at the solidarity rally reiterated that Governor Godwin Obaseki has shown capacity in good governance and delivery of democratic dividends. They wondered why the House of Representatives would delve into Edo speakership issues when due process was followed in the inauguration process.
Comrade Adodo Kenneth Osarobo, SSA Students Affairs and other related matters, while answering questions from newsmen maintained that Governor Godwin Obaseki has taken governance to the doorstep of Edo Citizens. He realed some of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s legacies as human capital development, infrastructural development, empowerment Initiative, industrial revolution, agriculture and food security, advancement in health care delivery and people oriented projects.
The movement for a stronger Edo State with Governor Godwin Obaseki is on. The task of bequeathing a legacy for tommorow’s future is not negotiable.
