Board Promotes 18,954 Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration, Prisons Personnel

The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Service (CDFIP) Board has approved the promotion of eighteen thousand, nine hundred and fifty four officers (18,954) in the four services.

Secretary of the Board, Malam Al-Hassan Yakmut, announced this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said that the approval for the 2018 promotion exercise was the highpoint of the Board’s meeting presided over by the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, (Rtd), who is also Chairman of the Board.

Yakmut, who gave the breakdown of the promotion, said 8,841 personnel were promoted in the Nigeria Immigration Service, while 6,179 personnel were promoted in Nigerian Prisons Service.

He said that 3,488 personnel were promoted in Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and 446 in the Federal Fire Service, comprising of senior officers, as well as those in the junior cadres in the services.

The exercise was approved on May 17 by Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau, Mr Yakmut said. It came seven weeks after the board promoted 51 personnel in the immigration and prisons top brass

“This brings to conclusion the 2018 promotion exercise embarked upon by the CDFIPB for personnel of the four services within the last quarter of 2018,’’ he said.
