The all-male suspects, who were arrested in Auchi axis of Edo State include: Salihu Uzovehe, 23; Hadi Musa Gambari, 23; Tijani Haruna, 24 and Mohammed Abdurasaq, 44.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said in a press statement made available to Alltimepost.com today that the intelligence report came through the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in conjunction with the office of the Inspector-General of Police.
As a result, he stated, Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Danmallam Mohammed directed the tactical teams of the command to go after the suspected criminals.
According to him, on April 19 2019 “a robust raiding, coding and search was conducted within Auchi axis which resulted to the arrest” of the suspects, said to be gang members of kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates that are terrorizing Kogi and Edo States axis of Nigeria.
DSP Nwabuzor disclosed that following the raid, the following were recovered from the suspects: an old carton colour Toyota Valet car registration number AG-721-AGZ which contain:
- One pump action gun
- Two locally made guns
- Twenty live cartridges
- A pair of Police Mobile uniform
- Two face masks and charms
He appealed to the public to be vigilant and always be at alert about suspicious movement of persons and report same to police.
