Assembly Poll: CP Commends Edo People For Peaceful Conduct

Benin City – The Commissioner of Police deployed to monitor the just conducted general elections in Edo State, Dan Malam Mohammed has commended residents of the state for their peaceful conducts before, during and after the polls.

CP Dan Malam who described Edo as a peaceful state assured the people of efficient post election security as the operation order mapped out for the exercise was being enforced to the later in synergy with other sister security agencies.

He stated this in a chat with our reporter while monitoring the election and the enforcement of restriction of movement in Benin City, last weekend.
Appraising the security situation during the poll, CP Dan Malam said,  “you know we deployed our men in conjunction with sister security agencies like the army, air force, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, immigration and others.

“We really deployed and we followed with closer supervision to ensure that our men remain in their duty posts. I am happy that they obeyed and they provided that visibility policing that enabled members of the public to come out to exercise their franchise”.

CP Dan Malam however disclosed that he was yet to receive any report of ballot box snatching or violence from any local government as the electorates went about the voting peacefully.

“For now no complaints, everything went well, I think Edo people deserve to be commended,” he remarked.

The police boss explained that the few electoral offenders arrested during the presidential and parliamentary elections in the state a fortnight ago would soon be arraigned.
