His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II has formally inaugurated the Steering Committee of the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) with a charge to members to embrace peace and unity in order to be able to attract the desired development to the Niger Delta region.
The Oba of Benin thanked every member of HOSTCOM for burying their differences for the interest of HOSTCOM and the people of Niger Delta, and urged them to believe and have confidence in themselves.
The Omo N’Oba told them that he is already seeing light at the end of the tunnel with something good to come to the Niger Delta, but advised them to eschew bickering and support each other.
The Benin Monarch requested for their prayers for strength and wisdom to discharge his responsibilities as Grand Patron of HOSTCOM.
Oba Ewuare II told them to always consult with him on issues bothering them, pointing out that with such consultations he hope to achieve more results.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of HOSTCOM and the Amanayanbor of Nembe, His Eminence, King Dr. Edmund Dakoru thanked the Oba of Benin for helping to resolve the over 4 years crisis in HOSTCOM.
He told the Omo N’Oba that the various peace meetings convened at his instance was also used to confirm the Benin Monarch as the Life Grand Patron of HOSTCOM, and he presented a letter conveying the confirmation to the Oba of Benin.
Other members of the Steering Committee who spoke in an interview including Dr. Mike Emuh and High Chief Dr. Benjamin Tamaranebi expressed gratitude to Oba Ewuare II for bringing the two factions in HOSTCOM together, adding that they would ensure that there is continued peace, unity and progress among HOSTCOM members.
The newly inaugurated Steering Committee of HOSTCOM has His Royal Majesty, Oba Obafemi Ogbaro as its Secretary.
