Benin History: Oba Ewuare II Sets Records Straight, Says All Previous Unauthorized Documentaries Fake

Benin City, Nigeria – The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II has cleared the air on the series of Benin history and documentaries on Benin monarchy and heritage, saying that all previous unauthorized publications and documentaries are fake.

The Benin Monarch made the clarification during the book launch, titled The Benin Monarchy:An Anthology of Benin history in his palace in Benin city last Saturday October 20, 2018.

Omo N’Oba noted that, as against all different publications and documentaries on Benin history by unauthorized individuals or groups, the red color book was written with a view to setting the record straight.

The royal father stressed further that the book was geared towards addressing the shortfall in Bini language pronunciation, poor expression as well as inaccurate narrations that have been alluded to the collective history.

He clarified that the Benin monarchs are born and not made, adding that the binis are deeply rooted in culture and traditional heritage of their land, saying that Ediaken was to hold brief for the recalcitrant IKEN at Uselu, as against the speculations that he was a duke.

On his part the book reviewer, professor Abednego Ekoko explained that the iconic red-color book which has five hundred and ninety nine (599) pages with four hundred and forty one(441) iconic images had contributions from eighteen erudite scholars.

Professor Ekoko reveals that a twenty-page red-color book, segmented in five parts, x-rays the uniqueness of the Benin cultural heritage and culture. This serves as a summary or introduction of the big book.
