”Any nation that unconsciously or consciously fold its hands without encouraging its best brains to wear the mantle of leadership for the purpose of steering the ship of state, for the benefit of all and sundry, would have mortgaged its destiny to individuals of no substance, men of no ability” – Quoted from Nowinta’s book, 2009: Where We Are-A Call For Democratic Revolution in Nigeria (page 92).
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t was abundantly clear in November 2010 that the masses of Osun State craved enthusiastically for the emergence of their political hero, a hero who had demonstrated a voracious appetite for championing their collective cause.
That was the situation then because everything was done by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s political rivals within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to incapacitate and frustrate his determination to reclaim his stolen mandate.
Now, almost eight years down the lane of power, Ogbeni Aregbesola’s remarkable progress in the State of Osun, in spite of excruciating paucity of funds from Abuja, in festering the culture of democratic dividends to the people is heartwarming.
If anything, Aregbesola’s gigantic efforts deserves to be applauded at this critical stage in the life of Osun State, given the September 22nd 2018 Governorship Election.
And if the Osun nay Nigeria must develop quickly, men of ability, integrity and substance must never shy away from throwing their hats into the ring of politics just like Alhaji Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, Chief of Staff to Aregbesola, is demonstrating in his current absolute disposition to succeed his political principal in office.
For Gboyega Oyetola to have dutifully served, sustained and survived the tempestuous administrative sea with Ogbeni Aregbesola in the past eight years, which has metamorphosed into extraordinary dividends of democracy shows the bundle of talents with which he is endowed.
Because he has succeeded incredibly to launch himself very far into the political firmament with Ogbeni, the rank and file plus the great leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun decided to queue unrestrainedly and indefatigably behind him during the July 20th 2018 governorship primary.
This uncommon exponent of progressive politics hails from Iragbidi in Boripe Local Government area of the State of Osun. He bagged his first degree in Insurance and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lagos.
A colossus in the private world of business management before his enviable credentials rail rolled him into the political train of Ogbeni Aregbesola as Chief of Staff, eight years ago.
Certainly, Rome was not built in a day, neither was New York City constructed overnight, but the way Ogbeni has painstakingly transformed Oshogbo from the ditch of glorified slums into a modern capital city stipulates that the Osun State needs a frontal uncompromising project continuer in the shape of Oyetola who has drank endlessly from the rich undiluted political fountains of the rare majestic performer.
We have seen Gboyega Oyetola displayed and dispatched uncommon and unconditional loyalty to the cause and philosophy of the Six Point Integral Agenda espoused religiously by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, which has launched the state into the rare ballistic developmental entity in Nigeria.
Under Gboyega Oyetola’s watch as Chief of Staff, he developed a contagious and inspiring faith in the power of the ordinary people, to whom absolute power reside within a political democracy, an asset that turned massively in his favor when the image of Aregbesola’s successor was being silently carved out then.
A closer look at other gubernatorial candidates flying the flags of other serious political parties for the Osun 2018 Governorship reveals that in terms of academic competence, clean political exposure and social sincerity, Oyetola stands taller.
Honestly, with the national/international acclaimed Osun School Feeding program, (which the Federal Government has embraced hook, line & sinker) Tablet of Knowledge (Opon Imo, free for thousands of senior secondary school students), Agba Osun (Elderly Scheme); bold, gigantic infrastructural/educational interventions etc., it is only an ungrateful electorate that will not massively throw Oyetola back to Bola Ige House to compensate a dye-in-the-wool Awoist-like Ogbeni Aregbesola.
The Gboyega Oyetola we know is deeply compassionate, gentle but blunt, forceful and cerebral, meek and courageous, visionary and indefatigably focused.
There is no doubt in my mind that the good people of Osun will be doing absolutely the correct thing to this inalienable component of Ogbeni’s administrative wizardry, by pitching their political tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC), on September 22nd 2018.
In the Osun State today, and in any other states of the Federation, my position is that those terrible specie of politicians who have assumed quasi feudal rights over the helpless masses before, must
be rejected at all times at the polls, as political leopards are not known to change their spots.
As the people of Osun go to the polls, they must never forget where the activities of political buccaneers, economic vampires and democratic bandits placed them in November 2010.
This election affords every responsible Osun voter the greatest opportunity to avert another session of catastrophic democratic rule. Once bitten should be twice shy!
From what I was privileged to witness glaringly during the ‘lleri Oluwa’ campaign/ enlightenment tours of Gboyega Oyetola within the State of Osun, some few days ago, it is crystal clear that the irresistible magnetic political destiny that will grab Aregbesola’s sprawling political empire has manifested positively before our very eyes.
