The party in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Abdulkadir Abdusalam said that: “More than once in the past, we have had to inform the world that Omotoso is only out to destroy the Labour Party. The party in the statement added that it is aware of the subterranean moves of of Omotoso aimed at subordinating and rendering it prostrate.
“Though we are aware of the ill-intentioned moves of Omotoso and we are surprised however that the press, the true conscience of the people, has continued to lend itself to the deliberate subversion of the truth that Omotoso and his ilk represent.
“For the umpteenth time, we urge Nigerians, the media and all political players included, to disregard in its entirety the posturing and words of the impostor called Mike Omotoso,” the statement added. The statement further adds that “the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has emphatically stated that the true and legal Chairman of the Labour Party is Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam (Barade Paiko) and not, never, the pretender, Mike Omotosho, who just pledged the phantom 16million votes.”
In 2015,Omotoso who contested for governorship in Kwara state could not muster for himself 1000 votes. APC should therefore be weary of political job seekers like Mike Omotoso who is looking for cheap and quick money.
Omotoso had in an Ilorin event said the Labour Party endorsed the APC and its candidate, promising to deliver votes to the ruling party.
“Much as the said Omotoso and enemies of the Labour Party may try, the country is still governed by law and the laws of the land recognize only Alhaji Abdusalam as the Chairman of Labour Party. We know the intention of Omotoso is to discourage the deluge of new members now joining our party and render the party unattractive, the statement continues.
“While encouraging all its members to remain steadfast, committed and focused, the party said It cannot and shall not “lend itself to the satanic agenda of subverting it to any other Party., saying it is “aware of Omotosho tactics and its ready to bring him to face the full weight of the law.”
The statement directed members to continue to spread the social democratic ideas and ideals of the Party irrespective of the subversive interjections of its enemies.
