Osinbajo’s Fear Catches Ministers

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]bout 28 ministers are currently in attendance at the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber Presidential Villa Abuja.

The unprecedented number of ministers at the FEC may not be unconnected with the ‘no nonsense’ stance of the Acting President since he took over the realm of leadership from President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a 10-working day vacation in London, United Kingdom.

As at 10:30am some ministers had arrived at the Council Chamber for the FEC scheduled for 11am and as at the time the Acting President arrived about 28 of the ministers were already seated for the meeting.

After the national anthem, the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwukah said the Christian opening prayer, while the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu offered the Muslim prayer. The turn out was unprecedented compared to the past FEC meetings chaired by Osinbajo as Vice President or Acting President.

Recall that Osinbajo had last week Tuesday terminated the appointment of the immediate past Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura and also yesterday (Tuesday), ordered immediate overhaul of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) as well as the probe of operatives that allegedly committed human right abuses on the course of their duty.
