INEC To Suspend Continuous Voter Registration Registration August 17

…Electoral body urges eligible registrants in 18 LGAs to register at Commission’s offices

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise will be suspended on August 17, urging the electorates who haven’t registered to take advantage of the window to do so.

A statement signed by the Administrative Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State, Dr. Richard Ntui, said once the CVR is suspended, eligible voters will only be allowed to register again after the 2019 general elections.

Ntui said, “In order to ensure that prospective registrants are all captured, the Commission’s offices in the 18 local government areas and other centres in the state will remain open for the CVR exercise.

“Collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) will be from 9am-5am daily from August 1 – August 17, 2018, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.”

He appealed to all eligible registrants who have not registered to take advantage of the window to do so, noting, “Collection of PVCs will continue after the suspension of the CVR.”
