… Ex-APC Spokesman Comrade Godwin Erhahon sounds an alarm
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary, Comrade Godwin Erhahon on Monday went hard on former state governor Adams Oshiomhole, berating him for the marginalization of legacy party members that made up the so-called mega merger which produced the APC in 2014.
Erhahon, former Edo State Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) issued a statement in Benin on Monday following the recent response of the state APC Chairman, Mr. Anslem Ojezua, debunking allegation of marginalization by legacy party members against the state party leadership.
According to him, the response from Ojezua “to our complaint of exclusion of CPC legacy from party and government structures should guide national delegates to the forthcoming national convention on what to expect of Adams Oshiomhole’s chairmanship.”
“Ojezua saying that CPC legacy had no office in Edo State Government and APC structure confirmed our complaint of marginalization, in a very rude manner,” he said.
Erhahon bemoaned Ojezua’s assertion that, allowing him as former state chairman of CPC to be Publicity Secretary of Edo APC in 2014 was out of the magnanimity of Comrade Oshiomhole.
“By that he means that CPC legacy is not entitled to any office in party organ or government structures in Edo State because we were not having any position in government before the merger. But we had our CPC structures!
“Yet Comrade Oshiomhole is deceiving delegates with the campaign promise to make every legacy party a full participant in both government and party organs.”
The guidelines for the 2014 merger, Erhahon asserted made it mandatory for every legacy party to be part of the party structures across the country.
“Since the three and a half legacy parties were popular in at least one region, the guidelines directed that none of the parties should be discriminated against in the areas where they were weak. In the 2011 Presidential election, defunct ACN scored 50,000 votes while CPC scored 17,000 which was over 1/3 of ACN’s score! So how can ACN legacy now write off CPC legacy?” Comrade Erhahon queried.
“But Oshiomhole rejected all the guidelines for the merger in Edo State till today.
Ojezua commended President Muhammadu Buhari for putting CPC members in Edo State to shame! What an indictment on Mr. President!
“What good are we to expect from Oshiomhole’s national chairmanship of APC? Absolutely none!”
In an interview he granted to Radio Nigeria, Anslem had debunked allegation
in some online Media that the CPC faction of APC in Edo State have been sidelined in the state.
Mr. Ojezua explained that CPC as a Party never occupied any political office in the State.
The Edo APC chairman explained that the emergence of Comrade Godwin Erarhon as then state APC publicity Secretary was borne out of the benevolence of governor Oshiomhole.
He stated that no amount of Slander would stop the emergence of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s National Chairman in the party Convention coming soon.
Mr. Ojezua described the said report as activities of mischief makers who had been put to shame by President Buhari.
