Benin City – A Benin-based upcoming musician was shot to death during rehearsal by gunmen in the state capital about 7:33pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
The victim, Elvis Oni, 32, popularly known as “Agbongbagbon” was said to be rehearsing with members of his band when the armed men invaded his residence and shot him on the left side of his chest.
It was gathered that the gunmen went further to rob other occupants of the house of cash and valuables including the pregnant wife of the musician who was axed in her right hand.
A tenant in the house Mrs Victoria Apeneokha said the gangsters also wounded her little child after shooting the musician, her landlord.

Edwin Igbineweka said the late musical artist was billed to release his new album in two weeks.
He said the killing of his half brother, a father of three children had brought sorrow to the family.
When our reporter visited the house on 17, New Lagos road, Benin City today, June 14 2018, sympathisers including one ‘Ovbievbo’ who identified himself as the deceased former professional master besieged the premises.
Confirming the killing the Spokesman for Edo State Police Command DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said investigation had commenced.
DSP Nwabuzor explained that no arrest has been made so far as the incident was not promptly reported to the police.
