[dropcap]O[/dropcap]dionwere Omuada (head of the royal sword bearers) in the Palace of the Benin Monarch, Mr. Rowland Ogbebor has been blessed with a Royal bead by His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II of the Great Benin Kingdom.The presentation of the Royal bead to Mr. Rowland Ogbebor has placed him in the highest level in the comity of Emuada (sword bearers).
At a reception ceremony in his honor at the Palace ground during the week, Mr. Rowland Ogbebor expressed profound gratitude to the Oba of Benin for the honor done him, and pledged his continued loyalty and services to His Royal Majesty.
He described the Omo N’Oba as God representative on earth, saying that since Ewuare II ascended the throne of his ancestors, peace, progress and development have continued to thrive in Benin Kingdom.
Ogbebor advised the people to serve the Oba in truth and spirit, pointing out that it is not good to incur the wrath of the Oba.
He thanked all those who made the reception in his honour a success and prayed that God and the ancestors should bless and guide them.
With this presentation of Royal beads, Mr. Rowland Ogbebor thus became the first to receive such Royal gift and blessings for the past 40 years, as the last was presented by Oba Akenzua II of Blessed Memory.
