A report from the area said the herdsmen are from Nasarawa and Benue States where farmers and herders had been engaged in bloody clashes.
The herdsmen were said to be trooping into various communities in the local government especially Muye/Egba, Gupa/Abugi and Ebbo/Gbachenku wards through Girinya in Kogi State.
With the influx of the herders into the largely agrarian local government, there is bound to be serious face-off between the villagers and their new guests.
Though the number of herders that had sought settlement in the local government was not immediately known, a villager said “they are in their hundreds”.
“Many of them are with their families, some are seen with dangerous weapons but so far they have not caused any breach of the peace,” he said.
