[dropcap]B[/dropcap]enin-based seasoned consultant, researcher and Executive Director of Justice Research Centre, Mr. Donald Inwalomhe has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to empower the nation’s Military Force to use the drone technology to fight terrorism, mostly in the Northeastern part of the country.

Inwalomhe made this call in an exclusive interview with Alltimepost.com recently in Benin City. According to him, if the military authorities in the country become proactive in the indiscriminate use of technology to stream news, research drones, along with the deployment of military drones, the days of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists will be numbered in the Federal Republic in Nigeria.

“Tracking terrorists on the stream and other forms of online media will be useful in eliminating terrorism in Nigeria. Drones should be deployed to terrorist bases around the famous Sambisa forest in the North East of Nigeria.

“The Northeastern border between Nigeria/Cameroun/Chad/Niger should be computerized in order to track the terrorists through the use of drones to gather data. This will go a long way to curtail and cripple the enemies of peace within Nigeria,” he said.

He said the use of drones has given developed countries a significant upper hand in fighting terrorism and the situation cannot be dissimilar in Nigeria.

His words: “To buttress my point, France has gone into cooperation with Chad, Niger, Mali, Burkina-Faso and Mauritania to form the Sahel military group to fight insurgency in the Sahel region of West Africa…If we have drones that can adequately monitor the activities of terrorists, it will go a long way to drastically address the Boko Haram menace in the country.”
