In a press statement, released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, Mr. Desmond Agbama, the Benin Monarch encourages the people to enter the New Year with renewed hope vigor and great satisfaction, believing that the year 2018 would be better than previous years.
The Oba of Benin expressed confidence that in the years ahead, Nigeria economy would improve for the better, considering the measures the federal government has been putting in place.
While commending President Mohammadu Buhari for these efforts, His Royal Majesty enjoined Nigerians to eschew corruption and be nationalistic and patriotic in attitude and orientation in order to build a virile nation.
The Oba who urged the people to always be their brother’s keeper and desist from hate speeches and all forms of inhumanity to man, he cautioned youths against social vices and criminality, advising them to engage in meaningful ventures, such as skills acquisition, agriculture, trading and other legitimate businesses.
Oba Ewuare II also appealed to government at all levels to give more priority to the economy, energy and electricity as well as basic infrastructure that will facilitate job creation for the millions of unemployed youths in the country.
It is the prayer of His Royal Majesty that Almighty God and the Ancestors protect and grant everyone good health in 2018 and beyond.
