[dropcap]G[/dropcap]reat Benin Kingdom Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has presented the Star Prize of a KIA Car and the sum of two million naira to the winner of the Oba Ewuare II Foundation Beauty Pageant, Miss Ifueko Aideyan.The event was recently held to mark the first Coronation Anniversary of the Benin Monarch.
The Benin Monarch congratulated her for emerging winner, pointing out that the competition was aimed at promoting Edo Language, culture and tradition among the people.
Oba Ewuare II thanked God and the Ancestors for the successful event, and charged Miss Aideyan to be prepared for the enormous task ahead, especially in the campaign against prostitution and human trafficking in the society.
His Royal Majesty who condemned prostitution and human trafficking urged Miss Aideyan who is now the Ambassador of Oba Ewuare II Foundation to educate parents and youths on the dangers associated with prostitution and human trafficking.
He enjoined the Beauty Queen to collaborate with government, agencies, NGO’s and meaningful individuals and organizations to stamp out the social menace.
Oba Ewuare II told Miss her to use the Foundation to also reach out to the less privileged, especially the orphans in the society.
The Oba of Benin advised her to reach out to Enigies (dukes), Edionwere (heads of communities) and other village heads including market women, in order to be able to take the campaign against prostitution and human trafficking to the grassroots.
He advised her to use the print and electronic media to propagate her programs and engage in aggressive campaign.
Responding, Miss Ifueko Aideyan who was accompanied by her parents and siblings expressed gratitude to the Oba of Benin for the opportunity, assuring that she would bring her knowledge of psychology and counselling to bear on the new assignment.
Miss Ifueko was later presented with the car key on behalf of the Oba of Benin by Chief S.O. Obamwonyi, Esere of Benin, while she took a ride on the car under the watchful eyes of Palace Chiefs present.
