By Victor Ofure Osehobo

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]rofessor Emmanuel Aluyor, Vice Chancellor of the newly established Edo University, Iyamho has been summoned to the Governor’s office in Benin City to explain his role in the theft of a brand new Toyota Hilux van, acquired for the institution.

Sources close to the institution said The VC has been having sleepless nights for weeks now after he allegedly compromised on the registration of the vehicle by insisting on a fake registration plate number, instead of one from the Federal Road Safety Commission.

It was learnt that the brand new Hilux Van with the fake registration plate number ‘disappeared’ at the weekend from the residence of the vehicle’s driver who was on an errand for the VC all the way from Iyamho in an unregistered vehicle.

Contacted, spokesman of the University, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Masajuwa, denied the allegation of a missing vehicle but said: “the driver had a personal disagreement with his boss” which needs to be sorted out with Police.

According to her: “whatever the driver has to do with his boss is personal and it has nothing to do with our University. I can authoritatively tell you that our vehicles are complete and intact.”

Sources say that “the vehicle’s tracking device was yet to be configured as at the time of theft while the originals of all its documents were in its glove compartment, as at when the VC decided that his favored driver put it into use.
