At the event, staff of both organizations and 25 SOS grandaunts trained at the Dulux Painters Academy participated actively in the painting exercise to make the walls of the center look nice and radiant again. After the exercise, participants shared their experience while painting and they all said indeed painting is not a job to be taken lightly. “It was fun, as I was able to discover that I have a skill that can be developed” said Mr. Eghosa Erhumwunse, National Director, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria.
Early this year, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and CAP Plc signed a-3 year partnership agreement under the YouthCan! Initiative. YouthCan! is a global programme of SOS Children’s Villages International to supports disadvantaged young people to successfully manage the transition from school to independent adulthood. By mobilizing employees, activating their networks and providing expertise, corporates are making a measurable impact in the lives of young people around the globe whilst efficiently working to reduce youth unemployment.
The YouthCan! Partnership between SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and CAP PLC stands on two main pillars which are training disadvantaged youths in the Dulux Painters Academy and Repainting of existing SOS facilities through the “Let’s Color Campaign”.
