New York —The Committee to Protect Journalists will release its report, “Justice Denied: Ukraine comes up empty in probe of Pavel Sheremet’s murder,” at a press conference in Kiev, Ukraine, on July 12, 2017 at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, 2 Khreshchatyk Street Kiev, Ukraine 01001
Nearly a year after prominent journalist Pavel Sheremet was killed by a car bomb in Kiev, no one has been arrested or prosecuted, even though Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko vowed a swift investigation. Ukrainian authorities offer no clear evidence to back their primary line of investigation of Russian involvement.
This, coupled with errors including security footage being destroyed and delays in identifying and interviewing potential witnesses, suggests the need for an independent probe, the report finds.
