Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has put machineries in motion to kick start the process of appointing members of his cabinet that will drive the vision of the administration to make the State enviable in Nigeria.
The governor made the disclosure while receiving members of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Edo State Chapter who paid him a courtesy visit at the state house in Benin City on Monday.
Obaseki who charged the women to be involved in political activities expressed the readiness of his administration to subscribe to the 35 per cent affirmation for women, but wondered if they would be found when the time comes to be appointed into political positions.
“In the next few weeks, we will write to the party to begin to give us nominations to fill political offices and we are insisting that 35 per cent of nomination must be women but I hope we will find them.
“You have a lot of work to do in enlightening the female folks to begin to participate in politics. We are trying to change the outlook of politics,” urging them not to be afraid to participate in the political process so as to be captured in the state’s programs.
