Obaseki Calls For Plan To Resuscitate Benin Tech College

Benin City – Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has emphasized the need for an action plan to guide the resuscitation of Benin Technical College in order to elevate it to international standard.

He made the disclosure when members of the Old Students Association led by its, President (Mrs.) Debby Odejimi paid him a visit at the Government House, Benin City on Friday.

Governor Obaseki enumerated the priorities to include, bringing the college back in months’ time, re- building infrastructure, evaluation of the school curriculum and finally, how the college’s students can partner industries for practical experience.

According to him, these are some of the issues that should be considered and which the Old Students Association could share with the state government.

Governor Obaseki therefore urged members of the association to liaise with the Chief of Staff, Edo State Government, Mr. Taiwo Akerele towards the implementation of these objectives.

Earlier, the National President of the association, Mrs. Debby Odejimi commended Governor Obaseki for his commitment towards their Alma mata.

She pointing out that the association carried out some projects including raising funds for the building of toilet facility and was already considering partnering with the state government to build blocks of classrooms.

The association revealed that the land belonging to the college had been encroached upon by land developers and herdsmen.

Present during the visit included, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu; State Head of Service, Mrs. Gladys Idahor and the Chief of Staff, Edo State Government, Mr. Taiwo Akerele.
