Oba Ewuare II Gives Thanks

It was pump and ceremonies on sunday 23rd October 2016 at the Holy Arousa Cathedral in Benin City, as His Royal Majesty, Omo n’ Edo uku Akpolorkpolor, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, proceeded to the alter of God, to give thanks, after successfully completing the coronation rites as the new Oba of Benin.

The Special Thanksgiving Service which was graced by people from all works of life, including prominent Benin Chiefs, started with melodious praise and worship which was sang in Benin dialect.

All routes leading to the church was closed by security personnel in order to avoid traffic gridlock from area.

In a sermon by the Ohen-Osa of Holy Arousa Cathedral, Priest Harrison Okao JP, who spoke in Benin dialect, urged all Binis to work with the new Monarch, noting that he should be accorded full cooperation by the people of the kingdom.

He also prayed for the Oba, stating that the coming of the Oba will bring blessings to the land amid hard times the country currently face.

Priest Okao further charge all Enigies and Edionweres, to be residents in their respective domain and community in a view to carry out their administrative responsibilities diligently.

In his address the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, thanked all Binis sons and daughters, especially those who took part in the coronation activities since it all started, thereby praying for God intervention upon them.

He said that since he was born, never a time has he seen so much crowd of people assembled like that on the coronation day.

Reminiscing the previous reign of Oba Ewuare I, the Esogban asserted that the Oba used to go out to get new innovations to rule the Kingdom.

Speaking with us a former Honourable member of the Federal House of Representative, representing Oredo federal constituency, Hon Razak Bello Osagie noted that it was essential for the Oba to give thanks to God, having just concluded the long Coronation process.

According to him “To the glory of God almighty and for the benefit of humanity, particularly the Benin Kingdom we have just concluded a process that has led to the coronation of an iconic man, a man with very striking intelligence, a man that has an intimidating pedigree, our Oba, Oba Ewuare II, a man of distinction, a man who served this country predictably as an administrator and a diplomat and now he is back home, we are very lucky to have him”.

During the cause of the service a special prayer session was held for the new Monarch, for his reign in the kingdom to be fruitful and productive on his people.
