The attention of the Nigerian Prisons Service has been drawn to the activities of a fraudster using a fake facebook account with the portrait of the Controller-General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The antics of the scammer involves inviting friends on the facebook platform and requesting interested individuals to pay various sums of money, which he calls “processing fee” to dedicated bank accounts for different business transactions and favour.
We wish to state that the Controller-General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed is not on facebook and did not mandate anyone or group of persons to solicit for friendship on the platform or any business transaction on his behalf. Therefore such invitations should be discountenanced as they are fake and only designed to perpetrate fraud.
This notice is for members of the public to beware of the tricks of the impostor posing as the Controller-General of Prisons to swindle innocent individuals. While efforts are being made to fish out the fraudster, the public is advised to be cautious and not yield themselves to such entreaties. Anyone that does so is at his/her own risk.
