Effective Security On Course –Former Nig IGP, Arase

Benin City – Former Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Igbe Arase (fdc, NPM) has said the country was on course to building a robust security institution.

Mr. Arase made this known while responding to a question on the alarming security situation in the country from news reporters at the venue of the welcome reception organized for him by friends and well-wishers at Edo Hotel in Benin City on Saturday.

Developing an effective security system for the country, he noted, was not about quick fix but a gradual process which the government of the country was already on course to doing.

“If you want to build a very effective security, it is a gradual thing. It is not a sprint. It is a marathon. And I think we are on course.”

On what he will be doing in retirement, Mr. Solomon Arase said he hoped to spend the remaining part of his life helping people and the less privileged in his community.

The retired Inspector General of Police who said he would not go into politics because he has no temperament for it hinted he hoped to write books about his experience and also serve humanity.

He also said he would do anything to enhance the image of the Nigeria Police.

“I have been a policeman for 35 years. I am a policeman. And I will always be a policeman. And anything I can do to enhance the Nigeria Police I will do.”
