Court To Rule On Fani-Kayode, Nenadi Usman Bail Applications July 4

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Friday, adjourned till July 4, to rule on the bail applications of two former ministers under the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration and chieftains of People Democratic Party, PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode and Senator Nenadi Usman, who are being prosecuted by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Usman was former Minister For Finance and Director of Finance of the PDP Presidential Campaign in 2015, while Fani-Kayode was Minister for Aviation and spokesperson for the campaign organisation. Also charged alongside the accused by the EFCC, were Danjuman Yussuf, Olubode Oke and Join Trust Dimensions Nigeria Limited.

Yusuf also returned to the prison with the duo. They are facing 17 count-charge of unlawful retention, use and payment of about N4.9 billion. In the bail applications argued by Ferdinand Odi, SAN for Usman, Ifedayo Adedipe for Fani-Kayode, they pray the court to grant their clients bail on self recognition or on liberal term, noting that an accused is assumed to innocent until he or she is found guilty by the court.
