Edo APC Crisis: Oshiomhole,Odubu, Obaseki, Others Summoned To Abuja

By Alltimepost.com

Following the crisis that erupted from Edo APC primary election held last Saturday in Benin City, which some of the aspirants described as fraudulent, the Secretary to the Federal Government, Mr. Babachir David Lawal has summoned all the contestants and stakeholders to a meeting in Abuja to resolve the issue.

Among the stakeholders attending, is Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State.

Alltimepost.com was reliably informed on Wednesday that messages were sent to those concerned to show up for the meeting, scheduled to hold Thursday morning June 23, 2016.

This latest development is an indication that Governor Oshiomhole’s touted efforts to resolve the issue by raising a reconciliation committee earlier in the week might not be enough to pacify aggrieved aspirants, their supporters and concerned party members in the state.

Alltimepost.com was told that the presidency and some leaders of the party at the national levels are not happy with the situation in Edo State, something they fear might spell doom for the party at the September 10, 2016 gubernatorial election.

As at the time of this report, some of those invited already arrived in Abuja. Althought the detail of the meeting agenda is not known, Sources close to the party said it would basically be to review what happened, resolve the issue and pacify aggrieved persons so that the party can present a united front to confront the People’s Democratic Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Alltimepost.com can confirm that the current Deputy Governor of the State and one of the aggrieved APC gubernatorial aspirants, Hon. (Dr.) Pius Egberhanmwen Odubu and Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi arrived in Abuja on Wednesday preparatory to the meeting.

Earlier in the week while working our sources, following a joint press conference addressed by Engr. (Dr.) Chris Ogiemwonyi and Kenneth Imasuangbon both of whom felt they were rigged out of the contest, Alltimepost.com gathered that, though Odubu did not accept the outcome of the primary election, won by Mr. Godwin Obaseki, he decided not to make any immediate public statement as his camp was still weighing various option and strategizing on the next step to take.

Alltimepost.com also gathered that while in Abuja, the aspirants who petitioned against the nomination exercise and the accused will also appear before a panel set up for that purpose.

A top member of the Odubu’s camp who was asked to comment on the reconciliation committee set up by the state governor, bluntly told Alltimepost.com that “Oshiomhole should keep the reconciliation committee to himself.”

The source who asked not to be named described the efforts as a sham, as according to him, it is the same people that allegedly robbed them of their victory that constituted the membership of the committee.
