Frontline and leading contestant for the gubernatorial ticket of Edo State branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has been elected to fly the flag of his party in the September 10, 2016 governorship election in the state.
Ize-Iyamu received 584 out of the total 713 delegates’ votes to defeat his two remaining opponents, Hon. Mathew Iduoiyekemwen and Solomon Edebiri who received 91 and 38 votes respectively.
Pastor Ize Iyamu was declared winner of the primary election which held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, by the chairman of the nomination committee and Governor of Ebonyi State, his Excellency Dave Umahi. The election was said to be peaceful.
His opponents in their concession speeches have agreed to work with him to secure Osadebey Avenue in the governorship election slated for September 2016.
