ABUJA — President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration would soon establish an inter-ministerial committee to ensure the speedy reform of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
The President stated this at a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Jin-Yong Cai, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.
According to the President, the re-organisation of the NNPC was extremely necessary due to alleged monumental corruption and abuse of its present structure.
The President added that his government was determined to maximize income from every source of revenue as a further imperative for reforming the NNPC, stressing that the national revenue needed a boost to effectively implement its programme of change and significantly improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
Also speaking, Mr. Jin-Yong Cai, who is also the Vice President of the IFC, stated that proper reformation and re-organisation of NNPC could make it Africa’s largest company.
